The Project Organization
The work in SEQUENCE is divided into 6 different work packages (WPs)
WP1 addresses the development within the technical platforms to meet the constraints of quantum technology cryogenic operation. III-V ohmic contacts and gate stacks applicable for 4K and below operation will be developed to meet the performance targets. Innovative device concepts (Nanowire RF-switch devices, 1D FETs and TunnelFETs) will be explored. Technology for 3D integration, wafer bonding and interconnects, will be developed.
WP2 focuses on cryogenic transistor characterization and development of physical and compact models supporting the circuit design activities in WP 3 and 4. In particular, the dynamic transistor properties at cryogenic temperatures will be considered and small- and large signal models will be developed capturing the essence of the transistor characteristics.
WP3constitutes the important link to quantum computer technology. Key cryogenic circuits will be designed, fabricated and tested in a real quantum computer environment. The effort is focused on the three aspects of qubit interaction: biasing, control and readout. The cryogenic systems include III-V RF switches, LNA arrays, low-power Si CMOS DACs and oscillators. 3D integrated systems combining multiplexing and different functionalities will be explored, and 3D integration with Si qubits demonstrated
WP4 widens the potential application areas by addressing needs of RF-circuitry for Space Communication and Sensing (40-70 K) and Evolving Communication (room temperature). Circuits will be designed for operation in the E/W- and D-band to match the need in the different application areas. The operation at higher frequencies further provides scaling paths for future technology implementation.
WP5 addresses exploitation, dissemination, and communication. The dissemination and exploitation activities are combined within WP3 and WP4 and is coordinated with the communication activities.
WP6 handles management
